Kiely Please!!!!!

The only thing worse than Kiely Williams song and video “Spectacular” is her explanation

Its clear Keily wanted to do something akin to Jaimie Foxx’s Blame it” (which is also questionable,) but from her video response to the outrage toward her song  I wonder if she even knows what date rape is.  I’m sure the feedback she’s getting is not what she was expecting

The lyrics

“You can say what you want but
You can call me a slut but
What he did to me last night felt so good
I must have been on drugs
I hope he used a rubber
Or I’mma be in trouble
Promise I don’t remember
Except for
Give it to me, give it to me
Ooh baby what a ride ride
Oh ride ride
So smooth like it beats
I like the heat
Ooh baby what a night night
Right right”

Tavis Smiley, Hater at the 2009 State of Black Union

Although Tavis Smiley is a hero to most African Americans (your’s included) his dislike for Obama is disturbing and apparently obvious to all (read article)  Although he never stated it, Tavis appears to be  Clinton supporter, yet, titled his newest book “Accountable”, features Obama on the cover below are comments from the 2009 State of the Black Union from guests and Youtube  commenters. Tavis you are a Hater, better change it up

I watched the afternoon session of the SOTBU, and Tavis was really disappointing. The panel was great, but Tavis just can’t let the last two SOTBUs go. Tavis we understand that President Obama didn’t kiss your ass like President Clinton did, but you are really making your dislike of him obvious now, Mr. Robinson you dropped some serious knowledge on the hypocrisy of Tavis and some others when it comes down to President Clinton. President Clinton was not good for African Americans or other Blacks around the world. I hope people start opening their eyes. Thank you.

rlw10101010I love the smile Lani had before she responded to Tavis’s veiled criticism of Obama (i.e., he’s an elitist who’s only interested in helping Blacks who are on his level). In a very intelligent, articulate manner, she set him straight. The “Black agenda” is the “American agenda”, they’re not mutually exclusive.

Cutting Remarks for Jackson

by Najee Ali

*Rev Jackson, your vulgar tirade caught on tape by Fox News where you said you wanted to cut Barack Obama’s nuts off and accusing him of talking down to Black folks by giving moral lectures at churches is the last straw for me and a growing number of African Americans who are outraged at your comments.
There are many Blacks across the nation, myself included, who are appreciative for the work and contributions you have made in your civil rights career. But at this point, you’re hurting Black America and Obama.
In September 2007 it was clear that you were frustrated by Obama, when you stated in an interview in South Carolina that Obama needs to stop acting white, because you felt he was not engaged in the Jena 6 movement enough to your liking.
Rev Jackson your continued verbal attacks on Obama are unwarranted it’s as if you’re jealous that Obama has eclipsed you and both your campaigns for the Democratic nomination by actually preparing to win it as the 2008 presumptive nominee.
Jesse Jackson & Barack Obama
For years you have been criticized as an ambulance chaser and opportunist. Many of Dr. King’s insiders and aides say that King did not trust you. 40 years ago in Memphis as King lay dying from an assassin’s bullet your first thought and action was to smear your shirt with Dr. King’s blood.
You then proceeded to appear in Chicago the next day on several news programs wearing the same shirt you deliberately smeared with his blood as if you were the heir of King’s movement. Obama’s recent comments about Black fathers not abandoning their children and accepting moral responsibility in our lives is a lesson you apparently needed to learn when you were younger. If you had, it may not have caused you to cheat on your wife and father a child out of wedlock with a former staffer.
Maybe that’s what really bothered you about Obama’s message to the church that Black fathers should be responsible for their children; you certainly haven’t been.
Jesse Jackson and daughter Ashley
Living in Los Angeles I have watched your ten year old daughter Ashley Laverne Jackson grow up. Over the years I have had the pleasure to spend several holidays with your daughter including Christmas, her birthday parties and other milestones in her life. I will never turn my back on Ashley her mom and their family. It’s about providing friendship, support and love to them while you have been missing in action.
Your daughter has never traveled or taken a trip with you, you have an annual birthday party in Beverly Hills every year where your entire family is welcome but your youngest child has only attended it once. She has had very little contact with her siblings and has never even met her big brother Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr, who apparently doesn’t want anything to do with her. And allegedly (I believe it to be true ), he was the one to leak the scandal to the media concerning your affair. Now don’t get me wrong, Obama is not above reproach. He is a politician and is fair game to be fairly criticized by you or anyone else. But to personally attack Obama is crossing the line. Obama is not talking down to Black people; he wants you and other dead beat dads to spend time and care for your children properly. The destruction of the Black family and absentee fathers is a major problem in our community.
It’s a problem that King spoke out and fought against. 40 years after King’s murder I can see why King didn’t trust you. If you can’t and won’t sincerely help Obama in this historic run then at least stop attacking him. Listen to Obama’s message of being a responsible father and start taking care of your daughter Ashley.

Holding BET Accountable

Last week another Rally took place, one that was no less powerful than the one in Jena New Orleans one holding BET accountable for the garbage that they flood impressionable minds with everyday

Washington DC – A crowd in excess of 500 rallied in a powerful yet peaceful demonstration outside the upper Northwest Washington DC home of Debra L. Lee, Chairman and CEO, Black Entertainment Television Networks. With signs reading, “BET Does Not Reflect Me”, “Lift Us Up, Don’t Tear Us Down”, “We Are NOT Gangsters and Pimps” and “I Am NOT a B I # * H – Respect Me!”, the largely African American crowd of children, teens, young adults and adults marched for two hours. They rhythmically chanted, “Enough is Enough” and “BET – Be Better, Do Better!”Joining in the rally were representatives from the National Congress of Black Women, the National Organization of Women, the Feminist Majority, other local activists and Maryland Delegate Justin D. Ross.
At the 2:00 p.m. press conference Rev. Delman L. Coates, Ph. D., campaign organizer, stated that the campaign is about home – about what is being brought into people’s homes everyday – regardless of whether or not they want it in their homes. “The purpose of the campaign is to protest the commercialization, marketing and distribution of content that degrades black women and portrays negative stereotypes of black and Latino men as pimps, players, hustlers and thugs.”Coates articulated the campaign goals, the first of which is for media and music companies to develop universal creative standards for the music and videos they produce, market and distribute. He also stated another goal – “We are also looking for Congress to allow consumer choice in the cable industry; more popularly known as ‘a la carte cable.’ We believe this is important because, currently, even if consumers change the channel, a portion of their cable bill still goes toward subsidizing those outlets that produce content they don’t desire or support.” Coates referred to a 2006 FCC report concluding that ‘a la carte cable’ could reduce cable bills by 13 percent.” Rally participants of all ages and backgrounds peacefully expressed their disdain for the ways in which people of color portrayed in the popular culture. Supporters demand a change.Demonstrators vowed to return next Saturday, September 22nd @ 1:00 p.m. to continue the protest in full support of Coates’ statement, “This is a movement not just a moment.”For more information or to schedule an interview with Rev. Delman L. Coates regarding this campaign, visit the http://www.enoughisenoughcampaign.com/ website or send an email to:

BET Must do Better

Don’t know what to make of Reginald Hudlin of BET seems like since he came on board the network has pulled out all stops to contribute to the degradation of African Americans After vowing to clean up BET’s image the network is now airing Hot Ghetto Mess a show that depicts African Americans in just about every negative way possible while claiming that these images will basically shame people into changing for the better. He tries the same approach to reading and also fails (Hey Reggie what happen to all that pro-black talk you espoused before you could do something about it ?)
