Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, “They don’t pay me to like the kids.” Her response: “Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like.’” A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level.
This is wonderful. As an early childhood educator, I have seen this to be true time and again. Children need to be seen as valued and respected in order for them to have the courage to explore the unknown and expand their minds. Relationships are key. I’ll be posting this video on my own blog. Thank you.
