BCAF film screenings are part of the MLK2015 Liberation Film Festival (LFF). LFF is dedicated to bringing short-format cinema and human interest documentaries to the public through innovative programs designed to engage new and diverse audiences.
Because of the growing interest in comics and sequential art by people of color, there has been a surge of production regarding the surrounding cultural production of narratives that address the Black experience in America. The films selected to be shown in conjunction with the Black Comix Arts Festival are part of the vanguard of independent films and documentaries that illustrate this influx of visionary talent happening in our popular culture.
A special pre-screening of M. Asli Dukan’s forthcoming Invisible Universe and Brandon Easton’s Brave New Souls: Black Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writers of the 21st Century showcase this year’s BCAF Screenings. We will also present an encore screening of Jonathan Gayle’s White Scripts and Black Supermen.
2015 marks the fourth annual Liberation Film Festival, and the screenings are free and open to the public with limited theater seating on a first come first served basis.
